About Me

Muhammad Ibrar’s academic journey and research trajectory underscore a commitment to excellence in the field of microbiology. Beginning with a Bachelor’s (Hons) in Microbiology from Hazara University in 2013, he continued to elevate his expertise with a Master’s degree from Quaid-I-Azam University in 2016 and subsequently earned a Ph.D. in Microbiology from Huazhong University of Science and Technology in 2021. His research has delved into significant areas such as hydrocarbon degradation by artificial microbial consortia, biosurfactants characterization, and the biofunctionalization of materials via the sortase enzyme. A postdoctoral stint at Shenzhen University in China further enriched his experience, particularly in biosensing of prostate cancer biomarkers. Presently, as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, Muhammad Ibrar is actively contributing to a research team dedicated to the innovative production of palatable and nutritious food from air, water, and electricity. His dual passion for scientific exploration and education reflects a profound interest in unraveling the intricate relationship between earth and life sciences, while also inspiring students in these domains
